If you've never experienced Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), chances are you've got a picture in your head of what it's looks like.

Here are a few of the funniest misconceptions we hear all the time.

1. "I'm going to have to ride a horse."

Nope!

One of the biggest surprises for people is that there's no riding involved.

Everything happens on the ground, where the real magic takes place. Horses communicate through body language and energy, so keeping everyone on the ground allows people to focus on building trust, awareness, communication, and leadership in a completely different way.

2. "The horses are going to judge me."

Actually... they're probably the least judgmental beings you'll ever meet.

Horses don't care what job you have, how much money you make, what grades you got in school, or how many followers you have.

They simply meet you where you are.

That's one of the reasons people often leave saying they felt more accepted by a horse than they expected.

3. "I need to know horses."

Not at all!

Some of the biggest breakthroughs happen with people who've never touched a horse before.

In fact, horse experience can sometimes make us think too much. Someone brand new often walks in with curiosity instead of assumptions, and the horses love authenticity.

4. "It's all serious and emotional."

Can it be?

Absolutely.

Can it also involve a horse stealing your personal space, sniffing your pockets for treats you don't have, deciding your hair is fascinating, or refusing to participate until everyone slows down?

Also yes.

5. "The horse is trained to do certain things."

This one surprises almost everyone.

Our horses aren't performing tricks or following a script.

They're simply being horses.

Everything they do comes from their natural instincts, communication, and desire to feel safe.

That's what makes every session unique.

No two groups are ever the same because no two people are the same.

The Best Part?

People usually arrive thinking they're coming to learn about horses.

They leave realizing the horses taught them something about themselves.

And somehow...

They usually have a lot more fun than they ever expected.
