She is sweet and gentle, and sometimes needs some encouragement because she is old. But Chicky does what is asked of her, just a little slower than her friends. her inquisitive nature means she will always be happy to sniff you to say hello. Her calm disposition makes her a fantastic leader, and you can always count on her enjoying a good scratch behind the ears.

J.R.
Age: 16
Colour: Buckskin
Gender: Mare
J.R. has a pleasant disposition and likes to be busy doing things. Her gentle eyes immediately tell you of her friendly nature. She will talk to you constantly with her ears. One of her little tricks is to allow herself to be lead without a lead rope. It is something taught to her as a baby, just put your arm over her neck behind her ears and gently push her head one way and then forward and presto she will follow you wherever you go.
From the time she was young J.R. has seen and done some amazing things from being ridden bareback in the mountains to learning "cutting" and working with cattle. Junior was used as a pleasure riding and trail horse.
In addition to these other life skills J.R. has also been a broodmare; a mother to several offspring. This has given her the gentle kindness she is known for.
Poppy
Age: 17
Colour: Sorrel
Gender: Gelding
Poppy is a veteran of our programs and has been helping people like you since the very beginning. He has had some amazing life experiences over his 17 years including cattle penning, trail riding in the mountains and pleasure riding.
Most recently Poppy suffered a fractured hip and can no longer be ridden. But this doesn't stop Poppy; his immense spirit keeps him going. Poppy loves spending time with the other horses, especially his "girlfriend" J.R., the pair is attached at the hip.
Poppy is a special horse, making everyone feel safe, comfortable and happy. His quiet disposition makes him an amazing listener and if you ever need someone to talk to, Poppy is your man.
Pass
Age: 5
Colour: Palomino
Gender: Gelding
Pass comes to Spiritual Equine Connection all the way from Craven, Saskatchewan. For a young horse, Pass is very calm and quiet. This is likely due to the fact that since birth he has had some problems. Pass's cleft never closed properly, meaning everything he eats comes out of his nose; you can tell he like to eat grass because he always has green goo coming from his nose.
It was thought that Pass would not live very long because of this, but the problem doesn't bother him and he was trained to be a riding horse and has gone on many trail rides.
Pass has a very calm and quiet nature and will stand for hours being groomed, just watch out for that gooey nose!
Faye
Age: 4
Colour: Bay/Black
Gender: Mare
Faye is a rescue horse with an incredible story of triumph over adversity. When she was only 2 1/2 years old a horse shelter collapsed on Faye, leaving a large wound on her back. After months of recovery, Faye's back healed leaving a scar she will have for life. Faye's strong spirit and love of life helped her overcome her trauma and injury and has turned her into a wise old soul for her age.
Faye is always the first horse to greet you out in the pasture, smiling at you with the friendliest of eyes. She is curious, and likes to investigate new things without fear. It would have been easy for Faye to live her life in fear, but she has chosen to embrace each new experience, making her a perfect member of our team.
